Deacons
8 Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, 9 holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience. 10 But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless.   1 Timothy 3:8-10.

The Deacon Fellowship of First Baptist provides servant leaders for the Church.  The Fellowship is composed of men who seek to be servants of Jesus and serve the interests of the Church.  The Fellowship supports the Church and the Senior Pastor by active involvement of the deacons in the ministries of the Church and through Deacon Committees.

Any man who meets the following qualifications may be considered for service as a deacon:
a.
  over 25 years of age;
b.
  made a profession of faith and been a follower of Jesus for at least two years;
c.
  meets the qualifications of scripture described in Acts 6:1 and 1 Timothy 3:8-13;
d.
  been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Norfolk for at least one year.
