What is the Planned Giving Ministry?

The PGM is a stewardship ministry of First Baptist Norfolk providing members and friends an opportunity to make legacy and endowment gifts for the future benefit of our church, it’s outreach ministries and mission work. Gifts to this ministry will ensure that First Baptist will continue its witness for Christ and share the Gospel for generations to come.

Why Leave a Legacy?

For more than 200 years First Baptist Church of Norfolk has served to strengthen the Christian witness of countless believers in Hampton Roads and around the world. Beyond the promise of the Lord’s eventual and glorious return we cannot predict the needs of our church or its ministries in the years and decades to come – whether it’s a special opportunity for evangelism, the need to serve in a time of crisis or the challenge of new and unique ministries. Whatever God has planned for us, we want to be prepared with resources to meet the needs, touch lives, and bring men, women and children to a personal relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ.

How do I participate?

The PGM receives gifts primarily from bequests provided in individuals’ wills or through gifts made possible by various trust arrangements, retirement plans and life insurance. Individuals may give a designated gift to the Planned Giving Ministry in memory or honor of friends and family. Gifts are treated as an endowment and the earnings on invested gifts are eligible to be distributed each year.
