Wednesdays

Our Wednesday evening activities focus our efforts on discipleship. Believing that Jesus was crystal clear when He gave his final instructions to go into all the world and make disciples, we have clarified the purpose of our Wednesday evening events to strategically focus on the task of Disciple making - or making missionary followers of Jesus.

Thursday is usually a school and work day! Being sensitive to your family's needs, we have scheduled these activities from 6-7:30 pm so you have the opportunity to experience Wednesdays at First and be able to get your family home earlier in the evening. All of our Wednesday evening activities are at our Kempsville Road Location.

After the funeral, when the cards and flowers have stopped coming, most of the people around you return to their normal lives. But your grief continues and you feel alone. Often, friends and family want to help you, but don’t know how. That’s the reason for GriefShare. This group is led by caring people who have experienced grief. They understand how you feel because they’ve been in the same place. And they will walk with you on the journey through grief towards healing and hope for the future. Book Cost: $15

Book of Luke (Continuance)

Leader: Hilton Oliver | Room 323

Leadership Development

Leader: David Lewis | Room 309

What is involved in being a leader at First Norfolk? This study examines that very issue. This course is designed to clarify the mission of our church and the role that leaders in our church have in working together toward the same purpose. This course is the first in our leadership pipeline for developing leaders in our church who are missionary followers of Jesus.

The Art of Parenting

Leader: Keith and Sheena Ethington, Ellen Brady | Room 310

Being a mom or dad is one of the most rewarding jobs you will ever have; and one of the most challenging! The baby that won’t sleep grows into a toddler that won’t eat who becomes an adolescent that won’t communicate. Not every day is a bad day but all parents need some help and encouragement. Join us for exploring an approach to parenting that can reduce the stress and increase the harmony in your home. Based on decades of parenting teaching from Family Life’s Dennis and Barbara Rainey and insights from other notable parenting advisors, you will learn about the four core issues that every parent and child need to address together.

The Best Life - Ephesians: Unlocking the Mystery to Your Best Life (Women's Study)

Leaders: Sybil Quillin and Emma Lou Savage | Room 317-319

We all want to be happy, live fulfilled and have a good life! Actually, we desire to have the BEST life! We make our plans and choices, and we chase what or who we believe will help us reach or goal of a fulfilled life. Instead of being fulfilled, we often find ourselves lacking and desiring more.
