Vision & Valor 2018

Be sure to join us on this special day! This is a time to honor and pray for our military and catch a greater vision for outreach and ministry to the military of Hampton Roads - and beyond! Meet our guest speakers at our Kempsville and Volvo locations as introduced below. They will address relevant themes relating to military service and ministry, as well as bring a unique focus to the meaning behind Memorial Day. From 11 am-1 pm, we'll have a catered BBQ & fried chicken lunch in the Fellowship Hall at our Kempsville location, and at 12:15 pm on the third floor of our Volvo location. Speaker: CAPT Mark R. Hendricks, CHC, USN

Mark Hendricks was born and raised, the son of a Southern Baptist minister, in the state of Florida. He was ordained to the Gospel ministry in October, 1981.  

Chaplain Hendricks was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Naval Reserve, Chaplain Candidate program in May, 1987. He began active duty in August, 1991, and has served in numerous assignments over the course of the past 27 years, including: USS FRANK CABLE (AS 40), USS SAIPAN (LHA 2) and multiple tours with the United States Marine Corps. He provided ministry support during deployments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. He is currently assigned to Navy Recruiting Command in Millington, TN.

A graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic College, he received his Masters of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and a Masters of Theology Degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, NJ.  

Chaplain Hendricks is married to the former Elizabeth Anne Marshall of Baytown, TX. They have three children: Jeremy, 32; Jamison, 31 and Kelsey, 28.

Speaker: CH (CPT) Jason V. Webster, USA.

Chaplain Jason V. Webster was born in Burlington, NC on October 31, 1970. He holds a Master of Divinity Degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. An ordained Southern Baptist minister, he has served at churches in North Carolina, Georgia and served with the International Mission Board in Uzbekistan. In September 2009, he was commissioned a United States Army Chaplain, and since has had assignments at Fort Lee, VA; Bamberg, Germany; and Vicenza, Italy. He is currently serving as the Battalion Chaplain for the 98th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, NC. He has deployed to Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan in support of the Global War on Terror. He has received numerous awards and decorations including the Bronze Star Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. He is a US Army Master Rated Jumpmaster. Chaplain Webster is married to the former Cindy Jo Marston of Roxboro, North Carolina.  They have three children, Jacob (16), Emma (13), and Benjamin (11).

Lunch is catered by Rodman’s Bar-B-Que, Suffolk, and will feature BBQ, fried chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, rolls, cookies, tea, and lemonade. Tickets are on sale now! You can purchase your ticket here.

This will be a church-wide gathering with a patriotic theme and music. Come hang out and meet new friends! LIFEgroups are encouraged to use this as an opportunity for fellowship and as an outreach to friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
