Room 300

All senior adults are invited to meet each month on the first Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Each month, we spend time in the Word, pray together, hear from interesting speakers, fellowship, sing, and occasionally have a special feature. The senior adult council meets at 12:45 PM on the same day. Lunch can be purchased for $6 by reservation, the menu is on the registration form. Contact us at or (757) 300.2462.

Our Program: The History of Ham and Peanuts in Isle of Wight County
Special Speaker: Jennifer England

The salty history of ham and peanuts in Smithfield and Isle of Wight County is as interesting as it is mouth-watering. Well-known as the Ham Capital of the World, Smithfield is a popular foodie destination, and the Isle of Wight County Museum holds the World’s Oldest Peanut and the World’s Oldest Ham in its collection.  To serve up this information for us is the Director of the Isle of Wight County Museum Director and Historic Resources Manager, Jennifer England. A graduate of the University of Mary Washington with a BA in international affairs, she has also been the Marketing and Development Coordinator for the City of Newport News’ Division of Historic Services. She is a pilates, yoga, and strength training instructor with several area YMCAs.

Being a part of a LIFEgroup at First Baptist Norfolk connects you with a community of people in a similar stage of life. As a senior adult, you face unique opportunities and challenges. LIFEgroups for senior adults are a way for you to continue to grow in your faith, be surrounded by people who care for one another, and serve others. Click on the link below for the latest guide. Most of our groups are meeting over video conference and some are meeting with a simple phone call. For more details, email Liz Fentress.
